June 3, 2014 – Gatineau, Que. – Library and Archives Canada (LAC)
Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and the TD Summer Reading Club are pleased to announce the winners of the TD Summer Reading Club Library Awards for 2013. Since 2007, the TD Summer Reading Club Library Awards have recognized and rewarded the most innovative and effective TD Summer Reading Club programs in local public libraries across Canada.
The first prize winners for their 2013 programs are Westmount Public Library (Westmount, Quebec) in the English category and Bibliothèque Robert-Bourassa (Outremont, Québec) in the French category.
The library staff and volunteers at Westmount Public Library combined creative programming with good literacy practices in implementing the TD Summer Reading Club program. Their efforts produced strong readership statistics and earned them positive feedback from participants and their parents.
Bibliothèque Robert-Bourassa involved the community in their TD Summer Reading Club program and created a visual record, the Tour de défi de lecture, of the reading the children completed during the summer.
For more information on the second place winners, Pickering Central Library for the English award and Bibliothèque municipale de Sainte-Christine for the French award, visit the TD Summer Reading Club website.
