The Aboriginal Peoples of Canada have a rich and colourful culture and on June 21, National Aboriginal Day, I encourage you to discover and celebrate it!
Founded in 1996, National Aboriginal Day is designed to help Canadians discover and learn more about Canada's fascinating First Nations, Inuit and Métis heritages. Regardless of where you live in Canada, there will be activities filled with sights, sounds and tastes of Canada's Aboriginal heritage for all ages-visit Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada's website and plan your day of edutainment.
The Government of Canada has partnered with APTN to host Aboriginal Day Live celebrations in Winnipeg and Halifax, featuring Aboriginal performers from across the continent. If you can't attend in person, tune in to view its coverage!
Health Canada works with First Nations and Inuit to provide quality healthcare, and as Minister of Health, this has enabled me to learn more about their cultures. Take the time to celebrate and embrace the rich heritage of our country's First Peoples.
Rona Ambrose,
Minister of Health
