Minister Ritz Announces Appointment to Farm Credit Canada

Ottawa, Ontario, June 16, 2014 – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced today the appointment of Michael Hoffort as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Farm Credit Canada (FCC). Mr. Hoffort's appointment is for a five-year term effective July 1, 2014. Biographical notes are attached.

With a portfolio of more than $26 billion and 20 consecutive years of portfolio growth, FCC is Canada's leading agriculture lender. FCC advances the business of agriculture by providing financing, insurance, software, learning programs and other business services to producers, agribusinesses and agri-food operations.
The FCC Board of Directors is appointed by the Government of Canada upon the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. The Board is composed of 12 members, including the President and CEO and the Chair, and represents the breadth of Canadian agriculture.
