The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) has initiated a Request for Standing Offer process to retain the services of qualified professionals with paralegal expertise to provide support, on an “as and when” required basis, to the Legal Services unit of its Legal Services, Policy, Research and Technical Analysis Branch (LSPRTA).
The OPC Legal Services unit provides strategic legal advice to the Commissioner and various branch heads on the interpretation and application of the Privacy Act and PIPEDA in investigations and audits, as well as general legal counsel on a broad range of corporate and communication matters.
Successful offerors could be called on to provide paralegal support that may include litigation support, legal research and data entry support, and other related services. Offerors must have knowledge of the rules and procedures of the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as knowledge of electronic legal research databases. Unless otherwise specified, all work is to be performed at the OPC premises located in Gatineau, Quebec, using the tools, processes and procedures defined by the Office. Call ups can be made against the resulting Standing Offer for two years from the contract award date.
Offerors must prepare and submit offers in accordance with the terms set out in the Request for Standing Offer posted on Buyandsell.gc.ca. Submissions must be received by June 23, 2014.
