Ottawa, Ontario - 15 June 2014
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on National Public Service Week, taking place from June 15 to 21, 2014:
“National Public Service Week is an opportunity to recognize the valuable contributions that our public servants make to the lives of Canadians.
“Over the past year, the Public Service of Canada has demonstrated its commitment to serving Canadians and promoting Canadian prosperity – from helping respond to natural disasters, to supporting the conclusion of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan, to helping Canadian businesses reach new markets, and to improving services to Canadians.
“In order to best serve the interests and needs of Canadians, the Public Service continues to modernize, improve internal efficiencies and reduce costs. This year’s theme – Proudly Serving Canadians – is certainly a fitting tribute and I invite Canadians to join me this week in thanking our Public Service for their dedication to the well-being of our citizens.”
