Cycling Canada Cyclisme receives federal funding to host international men’s and women’s road cycling race

On behalf of the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), the Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament (Delta–Richmond East), today announced $50,000 in funding to Cycling Canada Cyclisme to support the hosting of the White Spot/Delta UCI Road Race in Delta on July 6, 2014.

“The funding for the event supports our strategic goals of developing cycling in Canada and, in particular, the women’s road cycling program as a key priority area. Women's road cycling will benefit greatly from this additional support and resources from Sport Canada. Road cycling is an area where we believe Canada is, and can be, competitive internationally, and having a UCI-accredited race in Canada which provides important international qualification points allows more Canadian athletes to participate.
