On June 9, Anthony Eekhoff, 30, of the United States, pleaded guilty to smuggling contrary to section 159 of the Customs Act. A Regina Provincial Court judge sentenced him to two days (time served) and ordered him to pay a $3,000 fine.
On June 7, CBSA officers at the port of Regway examined a vehicle and seized a loaded .32 calibre semi-automatic handgun in a pocket in the door of the vehicle. Eekhoff, who was a passenger in the vehicle, assumed ownership of the firearm.
Officers arrested Eekhoff and turned him over to the CBSA Criminal Investigations Unit.
