On June 24, 2014, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized approximately 200 brownies laced with suspected marijuana, along with an additional 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana from two returning travellers at the port of Coutts.
The narcotics were found during a secondary examination of a vehicle. Two bags each containing 100 individually wrapped packages of suspected marijuana brownies were found. The brownies weighed a total weight of 3.4 kg. Officers also found 1.5 grams of suspected marijuana in the vehicle. The two travellers were arrested for smuggling.
The travellers and the evidence were seized and both turned over to Milk River Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
They are scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on September 18, 2014.
