On June 25, 2014, André Gendron, an inmate at La Macaza Institution, died at Cité-de-la-Santé hospital in Laval.
At the time of his death, Mr Gendron, 72 years old, had been serving a sentence of 7 years for indecent assault, rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and failure to comply with condition of undertaking, since June 27, 2013.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
