July, 21, 2014 – Vancouver, British Columbia – Western Economic Diversification Canada
Today, Cathy McLeod, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Labour and for Western Economic Diversification, and Member of Parliament for Kamloops–Thompson–Cariboo, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for upgrades to the British Columbia Centre for Ability under the Harper Government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
This investment of $87,500, used to upgrade the Centre’s HVAC system, has enhanced the services provided by the British Columbia Centre for Ability Association. The new, more efficient system will help reduce the operating costs of the facility thereby increasing service delivery capacity.
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund.
The Fund supported projects that looked to improve already existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
