Members of the Royal 22e Régiment had the honour and the privilege of meeting their Colonel-in-Chief, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, during a private gathering in the Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers mess of the Household Cavalry Regiment at Combermere Barracks in Windsor United Kingdom on July 12th, 2014.
Her Majesty was greeted by Lieutenant General Marquis Hainse, Commander of the Canadian Army and Regimental Senior, Major General (Ret’d) Alain Forand, Regimental Colonel, Colonel Normand Lalonde, Chief of Staff of 2nd Canadian Division Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Gervais Carpentier, Commanding Officer of the 2e Battalion du Royal 22e Régiment and Chief Warrant Officer Justin Morneau, Regimental Sergeant Major of the 2e Battalion du Royal 22e Régiment.
The Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal 22e Régiment took the time to meet the members of the Royal 22e Regiment, prior to their responsibility of Mounting the Guard at Buckingham Palace from July 14th to 19th. This is part of the commemorative celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Royal 22e Régiment, designed to highlight the events marking regimental and Canadian military history.

- Parade on Belgium’s national day and visits to the battlefields of Ypres and Passchendale on 20 to 22 July.
- “Rekindling the Flame” ceremony on the Champs Élysées in France and visit to the site of the Battle of Vimy Ridge from 23 to 26 July.
