Minister Goodyear and MP Tilson Visit Bolton Manufacturer

July 22, 2014 – Bolton, Ontario – Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario)

FedDev Ontario Minister Gary Goodyear and Member of Parliament David Tilson visited Multivans Inc. in Bolton today, where they congratulated the company on its success in the production and sales of truck bodies. Multivans Inc. has been serving the Canadian transportation industry since 1962, and provides bodies for a variety of trucks.

In 2009, Multivans Inc. received $50,000, through the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters' (CME) SMART Program, to support the purchase of new truck body molds. In 2013, the company received $42,170, through the CME SMART Prosperity Now program, to build and install a proprietary horizontal panel insulation press. Both projects allowed Multivans Inc. to improve the manufacturing process, product quality, plant productivity, delivery times to customers, and reduce labour input.

Prior to this visit, Minister Goodyear and MP Tilson also stopped at Mars Canada to tour the production facility.

Through a FedDev Ontario investment of more than $38 million, CME has helped more than 700 small- and medium-sized manufacturing businesses in southern Ontario to become more productive and better equipped to compete in world markets.
The CME SMART Program was established to help small- and medium-sized manufacturers in Ontario improve productivity through lean design/manufacturing, quality improvement, energy efficiency, information technology best practices, and environmental impact reduction.
