Today, the Chief of the Romanian Air Force (RoAF) Staff, Major General Laurian Anastasof, awarded the RoAF Emblem of Honour to four members of the Canadian Air Task Force (ATF) presently deployed in Campia Turzii, Romania.
The recipients of the decoration were: Lieutenant-Colonel (LCol) David Pletz, Commander ATF Romania; LCol Luc Girouard, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff; Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Alain Roy, ATF Romania CWO; and Captain Jean-François Lambert, Public Affairs Officer.
The awards ceremony took place during the Romanian Air Force Day event and was attended by the Canadian Ambassador to Romania, Her Excellency Mme. Joanne Lemay.
ATF Romania arrived in Campia Turzii in May 2014 as part of NATO Reassurance Measures to promote security and stability in Central and Eastern Europe. Since then, the cooperation between Canadian and Romanian airmen and airwomen has been outstanding, not just amongst aircrew, but across many components of the Air Task Force – from firefighters, medical staff, engineers, maintenance, to logistics and other trades supporting flying operations.
