July 23, 2014 – La Pêche, Quebec – Department of Canadian Heritage
The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $68,667 in funding for Théâtre Wakefield. Of this amount, $62,467 comes from the Development of Official-Language Communities Program, $3,400 is allocated under the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF), and $2,800 is provided through the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage (BCAH) program.
This funding has, among other things, made it possible to present the Ta Da! Festival and helped showcase the heritage of the Outaouais Anglophone community.
"I am delighted that our Government supports an institution as dynamic and vibrant as Théâtre Wakefield, a creation and performance venue devoted to presenting and showcasing the region's rich heritage."
— The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
"This Canadian Heritage funding has helped improve staging, lighting, and the safety and security of actors, dancers and artists who perform at Théâtre Wakefield. It has also allowed us to present talented local painters, singers, musicians and actors who have been warmly received at our Ta Da! Summer Festival."
