The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, will join dignitaries from around the world at ceremonies in Belgium marking the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War on Monday, August 4, 2014. Minister Fantino will be accompanied by Canada’s Ambassador to Belgium, Denis Robert. At a ceremony in Mons, Minister Fantino will also be joined by Mr. George Barkhouse, nephew of Private George Price, believed to be the last Canadian soldier killed in action during the First World War. Private Price is buried at St. Symphorien Military Cemetery in Mons, Belgium.
