On August 13, 2014, John Leonard MacKean, an inmate at Springhill Institution, died at the institution.
At the time of his death, Mr. MacKean, 65 years old, had been serving a sentence of two years, for Sexual Assault and Prostitution of a person under 18. His sentence had commenced on June 24, 2014.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
