Chris Warkentin, Member of Parliament for Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing $5,536,924 for the rehabilitation of Runway 12-30 and repairs to the apron, along with the purchase of an aircraft rescue firefighting vehicle at the Grande Prairie Airport.
The work on the runway and apron will ensure continued safe operation for passengers, employees, medical evacuations and firefighting operations, while the state-of-the-art rescue and firefighting vehicle will greatly enhance emergency response capability at the Airport.
Funding comes from Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).
