[August 27, 2014 – Edmonton – Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat]
Today, Minister Clement heard from Canadians at a public workshop held in Edmonton as part of consultations on Canada's second Action Plan on Open Government. The consultations were launched in May to hear directly from Canadians about their suggestions to make it easier to access government services, communicate with government officials, and access valuable government information.
These ongoing consultations, both online and in person, are designed to produce an action plan that will provide a clear path towards greater openness and accountability in government, and enhanced innovation and economic opportunities for all Canadians through Open Data. Consultations will also be held in Fredericton and Halifax in the coming weeks.
Canada's second Action Plan on Open Government will build on the successes of the first Action Plan, such as the Open Government Licence, the Open Government Portal (data.gc.ca), and events like the CODE appathon, which encourage entrepreneurship and economic activity to benefit Canadians.
