Membership growth identifies high-tech opportunities

The YMCA of Cape Breton’s locations in Sydney, Glace Bay and Port Hawkesbury are going high-tech. The Government of Canada, through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Business Development Program, will contribute $141,360 to support upgrades to existing information technology systems. Gerald Keddy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and Member of Parliament (South Shore–St. Margaret’s), was in Port Hawkesbury today to make the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (ACOA).
Significant growth in membership across the YMCA of Cape Breton’s locations has put pressure on the association’s aging information technology infrastructure and resources. Funding from the Government of Canada will help the association to acquire the technology required to keep up with existing demands and promote future growth.
