Government of Canada supports the Festival La Virée
September 3, 2014 – Carleton-sur-Mer, Quebec – Department of Canadian Heritage
The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced a grant of $35,000 to Maximum 90 for the 14th edition of the Festival La Virée and the presentation of its 2014-2015 program. This funding is provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund.
The Festival La Virée, to be held from October 10 to 12 in Carleton-sur-Mer, will help promote and pass on the cultural practices that are part of the Gaspé, Acadian and Quebec traditions.
“Our Government proudly supports the Festival La Virée, a not-to-be-missed get-together that contributes to the cultural dynamism and the economic vitality of the region.”
—The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
“Maximum 90 wants to acknowledge the unwavering support of Canadian Heritage, which has backed the Festival La Virée since 2003, as part of the festival’s mission to spread and pass on our living heritage. Without that financial assistance, we could not fulfill our mandate, nor help local artists and artisans to become involved in their community and thus celebrate our intangible heritage.”
— Samuel Téguel, Director, Maximum 90
