Media and the public are invited to join His Excellency, David Johnston the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada and the Honourable Rob Nicholson, the Minister of National Defence at a historic ceremony on Parliament Hill as they mark the 100th anniversaries of two Canadian Army regiments.
More than 200 soldiers from Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (Edmonton) and the Royal 22e Régiment (Quebec City) will perform a military parade at sunset. This will include a feu-de-joie (rifles firing blank rounds in quick succession), a 21-gun salute and musical accompaniment by marching bands. Also planned (weather permitting) is the participation of the SkyHawks, the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team.
