September 30, 2014 – Banff, Alberta – Canadian Institutes of Health Research
Canada's Minister of Health Rona Ambrose and Alberta's Minister of Health Stephen Mandel today presented the 2014 CIHR Barer-Flood Prize in Health Services and Policy Research to Dr. Tom Noseworthy at a reception for delegates attending the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Health Ministers Meeting in Banff, Alberta. They were joined by Dr. Alain Beaudet, President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and Dr. Robyn Tamblyn, Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research.
Dr. Noseworthy received the award for his outstanding contributions in the field of health services and policy research where his work has focused on improving access to care and minimizing wait times. Dr. Noseworthy is a Professor of Health Policy and Management in the Department of Community Health Sciences and the O'Brien Institute for Public Health at the University of Calgary. He is also Associate Chief Medical Officer, Strategic Clinical Networks, at Alberta Health Services. As a researcher, clinician and senior healthcare executive, Dr. Noseworthy has shown outstanding leadership throughout his career in producing and applying research evidence to improve health policy and patient care.
