Gander Aerospace Manufacturing celebrates official opening of new facility

An event in Gander today marked the official opening of a new addition to Gander Aerospace Manufacturing, a renovated hangar facility to accommodate aircraft service work. Support for the initiative was announced today by Gerald Keddy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador and Minister of State (ACOA).
Gander Aerospace Manufacturing, which operates under the GFT Aerospace Group, is an aerospace manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, quality inspection and training facility. The Government of Canada, through ACOA, provided a repayable investment of $500,000 to enable the company to undertake renovations to the hangar to support the company’s expanding work in maintenance repair and overhaul.
In 2002, the company designed and constructed a building, hangar, office and parts base facilities in Gander. Since that time, it has continued to expand and identified the need for a second hangar to accommodate the growing operation.
