The Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), and PEI Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Henderson today announced a combined investment of $91,935 for the Island East Tourism Group Inc.
With this assistance, the Island East Tourism Group Inc. will develop a three-year strategic plan that will assist the organization to attract more visitors to the Points East Coastal Drive in Prince Edward Island. This strategic plan will also help the organization to deliver tourism products that will increase visitation to the region during the spring and fall tourism seasons.

- The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, is investing $42,585 to help Island East Tourism Group Inc. develop and promote tourism in Eastern Prince Edward Island. The Government of Prince Edward Island, through the Department of Tourism and Culture, is investing an additional $49,350.
- The Island East Tourism Group Inc. promotes the Tulip Trail and Festival to increase visitation in the spring season, and will host two Fall Flavours signature events to attract visitors to the Eastern end of Prince Edward Island during the fall season.
- The Points East Coastal Drive consists of 475 kilometers of scenic roadways through rural eastern Prince Edward Island, including communities such as Souris, Georgetown, Montague, Wood Islands, Murray River, Cardigan, Morell and St. Peter's.
