Ottawa – Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will welcome Her Excellency Park Geun-hye, President of the Republic of Korea, at Rideau Hall, on September 21 and 22, 2014, on the occasion of her State visit to Canada.
The following events will take place at Rideau Hall:
Sunday, September 21, 2014
4 p.m.
Official Welcoming Ceremony
An official welcoming ceremony, with military honours, will be held at Rideau Hall. The President of the Republic of Korea will conduct an inspection of a guard of honour. The Governor General and the President will then offer remarks.

State Dinner
In honour of the President’s visit to Canada, Their Excellencies will host a State dinner at Rideau Hall.

Ceremonial Tree Planting
President Park will plant a tree on the grounds of Rideau Hall to commemorate her State visit to Canada. The tree will be a bitternut hickory (Carya cordiformis), which was chosen for its adaptability, strength and longevity, similar to the relations between Canada and Korea.
