September 15, 2014 – Québec, Quebec – The National Battlefields Commission
As part of the 18th edition of Journées de la culture, the National Battlefields Commission is pleased to invite archeology and history buffs to a free Archéo-Expérience Workshop on Sunday, September 28, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Discovery Pavilion of the Plains of Abraham.
Quick facts
- Experience for yourself the analysis and research work that’s part and parcel of being an archeologist. Help identify artefacts and get a taste of the day-to-day life of a 17th century farmer and a 19th century British soldier in Québec.
- Don your archeologist’s hat for the occasion as you analyze and identify objects unearthed at two civilian and military sites. Then, based on your finds, use your archeological reasoning to establish the history and profile of the people who lived at these sites. Get ready for some real detective work!
- Historian Hélène Quimper, who heads up the archeology department at the National Battlefields Commission, will discuss the similarities between your discoveries and the artefacts on display at the brand new Traces: Listening to Remnants exhibition.
- A cultural rendezvous that delves into our past. A must for all ages!
