Supporting Canadian companies abroad, especially small and medium-sizes enterprises, helps them grow and succeed and creates jobs and opportunities
September 4, 2014 - London, United Kingdom - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today launched a Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) program in the United Kingdom to help Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises grow and prosper. This is the first time the program has operated in Europe.
CTAs provide innovative Canadian companies with access to unique resources, helping participants refine their business model, collect competitive intelligence, pursue key clients, access financing sources and engage strategic partners to help them grow internationally. CTAs are one of the tools used to support Canadian companies under Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan (GMAP).
Six promising Canadian companies have been selected, following a competitive application process, as the inaugural class for the new three-month incubator program in the United Kingdom.
The selected participants are:
- Analyze RE, Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Arc4dia, Toronto, Ontario
- INETCO Systems Limited, Burnaby, British Columbia
- Phéromone, Montréal, Quebec
- Populus Global Solutions Inc., Fredericton, New Brunswick
- ReFleX Wireless, Vancouver, British Columbia
Minister Fast is in the U.K. leading a four-day trade mission.
