Prime Minister Stephen Harper met today with King Abdullah II of Jordan on the margins of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Summit in Wales, United Kingdom.
During today’s meeting, Prime Minister Harper and King Abdullah II discussed at length the crises in Syria and Iraq and the serious threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). Prime Minister Harper shared details of the actions Canada is taking in coordination with its allies to protect innocent civilians and to counter ISIL.
They also took time to exchange on the evolving situation in the Middle East.
The two leaders last met in Jordan in January 2014 during Prime Minister Harper’s visit to the Middle East.
