Ottawa – Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will welcome His Excellency Joachim Gauck, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his partner, Ms. Daniela Schadt, to Rideau Hall, on the occasion of their State visit to Canada, from September 24 to 27, 2014.
“My wife, Sharon, and I are delighted to welcome President Gauck on this momentous occasion, the first State visit of a German president to Canada in almost 25 years,” said the Governor General. “President Gauck and members of his delegation will meet with Canadians working in the education, trade, innovation, science, technology and culture fields, with a view to strengthening the important relationship between our two countries.”
A detailed schedule of the events taking place at Rideau Hall will be issued at a later date.
