Government of Canada supports the programming of the Cercle de l’amitié in Brampton

September 3, 2014 – Mississauga, Ontario – Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada has announced $25,000 in funding, through the Community Life component of the Development of Official-Language Communities Program, to support the annual programming of the Cercle de l’amitié in Brampton–Malton, a cultural centre serving the Francophone community in the Region of Peel. The Cercle de l’amitié provides Francophones of all ages in the region with the opportunity to meet and participate in numerous socio-cultural, sports and recreational activities offered in French throughout the year.

The announcement was made today by Eve Adams, Member of Parliament (Mississauga–Brampton South), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Active since 1973, the Cercle de l’amitié is the only cultural community organization for Francophones in the Region of Peel.
The Cercle de l’amitié offers a variety of services to the Francophone community, including recreational and sports programming, daycare, extra-curricular activities, a community resource centre and an art gallery.
