On October 22, 2014, Kyle Edmund Scott, an inmate at Atlantic Institution, was found unresponsive in his cell.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The offender was taken to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 01:20 a.m.
At the time of his death, Mr. Scott, 20 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence since May 5, 2014 for Second Degree Murder.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
