New storage facility will help reduce operational costs
October 14, 2014 – Memramcook, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Ferme Bourgeois Farm Inc. is building a new storage facility aimed at reducing operational costs, improving efficiencies and expanding sales opportunities, thanks to a Government of Canada investment.
Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Regional Minister for New Brunswick and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency), joined Ferme Bourgeois Farm Inc. (FBF) officials today to make the announcement.
The project involves the construction of an atmospheric controlled storage facility using new technology developed in France. This will centralize and increase Verger Belliveau Orchard Ltd.’s (VBO) apple storage capacity, reduce costs and extend both the shelf life and current selling season. The facility will also be utilized by a number of other regional apple growers.
The Government of Canada is investing $500,000 in the project, through ACOA’s Business Development Program.
