October 14, 2014 – Centreville, Nova Scotia – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)
Member of Parliament Greg Kerr (West Nova), on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, announced today an investment of $182,739 to Nova Agri Inc. to research and develop new products derived from fruits and vegetables.
Through the Growing Forward 2 AgriInnovation Program, this investment will provide Nova Agri Inc. with the technical support they need to produce and market new lines of high quality fresh fruit and vegetable products to meet consumers’ demand. This support will also help introduce an herb product line and develop new blends of juice using cucumber, beans and other crops.
This investment builds on previous support under Growing Forward, which enabled the company to test-market two new blueberry juice blends with enhanced health attributes and to experiment with climate control and packaging methods to prolong the shelf life of lettuce.
