Today, Jay Aspin, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, and the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Member of Parliament for Parry Sound–Muskoka, announced the awarding of a $12.7‑million construction contract for the Big Chaudière Dam Replacement Project at the French River Dam Complex near Dokis, Ontario, to EBC Inc., of Brossard, Quebec.
The Big Chaudière Dam is being replaced to ensure that this infrastructure continues to serve citizens by managing the water levels of Lake Nipissing and the French River. The dam is essential for maintaining the water levels and regulating the flow of water into the French River. The entire dam complex regulates water levels throughout the year to minimize the impact of high and low water flow through the system.
This project underlines the Government of Canada’s commitment to ensuring important infrastructure assets continue to provide value to taxpayers while helping Canada’s economy. Through important investments in public infrastructure, the government will continue to create jobs across the country and promote economic growth.
