Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George-Peace River, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing $4,304,668 over two years for the improvement of the runway apron at the Northern Rockies Regional Airport.
This project will ensure continued safe airport operation for flight crews, passengers, airport employees, medical evacuations, and fire fighting operations.
Funding is provided by Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).
“Our government is committed to the safety and security of all Canadians. This investment will improve safety for air travellers and support the efficient movement of people and goods – ensuring the right conditions for economic growth and long-term prosperity.”

“The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality welcomes the ACAP funding as it will significantly improve the safety of manoeuvring aircraft, increase the operational apron area to allow for easier access to on-site services, and provide better and safer service to our users. The Northern Rockies Regional Airport has become one of the North’s busiest airports in recent years, and this airport improvement will support the growth of the community.”
