MP Scott Armstrong announces Government of Canada support for the Springhill Soldiers' Monument

Scott Armstrong, Member of Parliament for Cumberland–Colchester–Musquodoboit Valley, today announced Government of Canada funding for the restoration of the Springhill Soldiers' Monument which honours the achievements and sacrifices of Veterans from within the community. MP Armstrong made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

Organized by the Town of Springhill, the restoration work to the monument will include repairs to the base and the addition of a ramp to increase accessibility for those who wish to visit and pay tribute. The names of local citizens who died during the Korean War will also be added to honour their service and sacrifices.

The Town of Springhill is receiving $9,914 through Veterans Affairs Canada's Cenotaph/Monument Restoration Program for the restoration of the Springhill Soldiers' Monument.
Since 2006, the Government of Canada has provided approximately $4.5 million through Veterans Affairs Canada's Cenotaph/Monument Restoration Program to ensure that cenotaphs and monuments to Canada's Veterans and war dead are preserved.
Across the country, there are more than 6,000 local cenotaphs and monuments dedicated to Canada's war dead and Veterans. #ShowYouRemember
