Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will travel to Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium from October 22 to 29, 2014.
During his visit, the Governor General will meet with government representatives, business leaders, researchers and innovators with a view to strengthening bilateral relations, including in the areas of innovation and education.
The Governor General’s visit will also help highlight Canadian links to many of the key anniversaries being commemorated this year in Europe. These links include Canada’s significant contributions during the First and Second World Wars.
In addition, the Governor General’s visit will provide an opportunity to build awareness of the Canada-European Union Trade Agreement and promote it as the beginning of a new era in the Canada-EU commercial relationship.
