The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced the appointment of Ms. Deanne Stapleton of St. John’s to the board of directors of the St. John’s Port Authority for a term ending October 8, 2016.
Ms. Stapleton has experience as an adjudicator at the Government of Canada’s Office of the Commissioner of the Review Tribunals (OCRT) on cases related to the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security. Ms. Stapleton’s prior experience includes that of constituent assistant to a now retired Member of Parliament and safety program development at Sobeys Inc., and at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. She holds a safety engineering technology diploma from the College of the North Atlantic, a certificate in criminology, as well as a bachelor of arts in sociology and folklore from Memorial University in Newfoundland.
