November 25, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will host and deliver remarks at an event on digital diplomacy. Special guest Carl Bildt, former prime minister and foreign affairs minister of Sweden, will also deliver remarks. Baird and Mr. Bildt take part in a moderated Q & A.
The event brings together digital diplomacy and technology specialists, including representatives of Facebook Canada, Twitter Canada and Google Canada, and several social media experts from Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, who will expand on the importance of social media in the department’s efforts to promote Canada’s values and interests around the world.
This event will follow the November 24-25 Global Commission on Internet Governance summit in Ottawa, during which Baird and Mr. Bildt will discuss how to preserve a free, open and secure Internet.
