November 28, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement concerning Moldova's upcoming elections:
“Canada supports the democratic aspirations of the people of Moldova and their determination for a better future as they prepare to head to the polls to elect their new government.
“Canada wholeheartedly supports Moldova's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and its right to be free from coercive external influence.
“We are proud to be contributing 20 observers to monitor Sunday's elections through the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe [OSCE]. These dedicated and experienced Canadian observers are working to support the advancement of freedom, democracy and good governance in the region.”
