November 27, 2014 - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird today issued the following statement:
“Canada is dismayed by the ongoing violence against foreign personnel, both military and civilian, in Afghanistan.
“We strongly condemn today’s suicide bombing in Kabul specifically targeting foreign nationals, which also cost the lives of Afghan bystanders and injured many others. We also deplore the second attack that took place later in the day in the Wazir Akbar Khan area.
“On behalf of the people of Canada, I extend my most sincere condolences to the British and Afghan victims of this senseless attack and wish a swift recovery to those injured.
“Canada will not be deterred by such inhuman acts of violence from continuing to stand by the Government of Afghanistan as it strengthens its efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms in order to secure a brighter and more peaceful future for all Afghans.”
