FedDev Ontario is providing the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation with a non-repayable contribution of up to $200,000 through the Investing in Regional Diversification initiative.
The WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation is a not-for-profit economic development organization supported by the City of Windsor and the County of Essex with a mandate to develop and execute strategies to retain, expand, attract and help to start new businesses in the Windsor-Essex region.
The Investing in Regional Diversification initiative encourages not-for-profit organizations to collaborate with businesses and post-secondary institutions in southern Ontario to undertake projects that will result in more diversified and competitive economies in the region's communities.
Funding is available for projects that:
- Enhance business attraction, investment and employment opportunities in southern Ontario regions and communities
- Strengthen regional businesses and clusters with the goal of economic diversification and sustainability
- Develop and expand collaborative efforts to strengthen regional assets and competitiveness
- Improve the economic circumstances of communities facing distress
Incorporated not-for-profit organizations located in southern Ontario with a focus on economic development, are eligible to apply under this initiative. Applications are accepted and assessed on an ongoing basis and applicants will be notified as their projects are approved.
