Government of Canada supports growth of Altex Décoration Ltd

November 12, 2014 – Terrebonne, Quebec – Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Senator Jean-Guy Dagenais announces that Altex Décoration Ltd, a Terrebonne firm, has been granted assistance to improve its productivity and launch a commercialization strategy in the United States.

This support has been awarded in the form of a $350,000 repayable financial contribution through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

Founded in 1975, Altex Décoration specializes in the manufacture of shading products like roller shades, roman shades, panel tracks and aluminium blinds.
Along with its Terrebonne factory, the company—one of Quebec’s largest producers of shading systems—also operates a plant and sales office in Vaughan, Ontario, and a sales office in Richmond, British Columbia. The enterprise currently employs 195 people nationwide.
The company’s project involves updating the fleet of equipment at its Terrebonne plant in the aim of bolstering productivity. To that end, Altex Décoration will acquire a computer module as well as automated product packaging and specialty fabric cutting equipment. The firm will also launch a commercialization strategy consisting of various activities, including participation in trade fairs, customer prospecting and the production of promotional materials.
