The Honourable Senator Michel Rivard today announced Government of Canada support for a conference that will bring together over 100 Veterans and 300 youths from Canada and France to honour the service and sacrifices of Veterans of the First World War. Senator Rivard made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
Presented by the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sur la science et la technologie, the historian-led conference entitled “Canada and France During the Great War” will look at the War through a contemporary lens and help new generations understand the importance of remembrance and the selfless contributions made by Veterans. The conference will be held in Ottawa’s Senate Chamber and will be broadcasted via CPAC so that all Canadians can learn more about the First World War and how it impacts the lives of Canadians today.
