Joint Canada-Quebec investment of more than $2.4 million
Chelsea, November 3, 2014 - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, joins Pierre Moreau, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, in highlighting on the occasion of today’s construction start-up on the new wastewater facilities in the Centre district in Chelsea that $2,448,366 in joint government funding has been committed to carry out a project of more than $3.3 million, under the Communities Component of the Building Canada Fund – Quebec.
“Equipping communities with the modern infrastructure that is essential to the health and safety of their residents remains one of our government’s key objectives. That is why we are proud to have contributed to this project and to mark today the beginning of work on this new water treatment facility in Chelsea’s Centre district,” said Minister Lebel.
“I am very pleased about the launch of work on these new facilities in Chelsea. This project is an important investment for the future of the town, and more particularly for the population in the Centre district. Once complete, this work will enable the Municipality to improve water quality while contributing to the better health of its citizens,” added Minister Moreau.
