November 27, 2014
To mark the closing of the fourth edition of Financial Literacy Month, Minister of State (Seniors) Alice Wong and Canada’s Financial Literacy Leader Jane Rooney will attend the launch of a new program – ‘Focusing on Financial Abuse: Recognize, Review, Respond.’
The program is being launched by Prevent Elder Abuse Manitoba (PEAM), Credit Union Central of Manitoba (CUCM) and Credit Union Central of Canada (CUCC) in collaboration with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). The program was written and developed by Tamlo International Inc. and will be distributed exclusively by CUSOURCE Credit Union Knowledge Network, a wholly owned subsidiary of CUCC. It will help front-line credit union staff recognize situations in which older credit union members are being financially abused, and select an appropriate response to the abuse.
The launch event will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Good Neighbours Active Living Centre, 720 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Members of the media are invited to attend.
