November 5, 2014 – Ottawa – Department of Canadian Heritage
The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, announced today that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence will highlight the achievements of Canadian heroes—those who serve in the military or at home in their communities—during their upcoming Royal Tour of Canada.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will meet a broad range of Canadians during the two-day Tour. She will acknowledge and honour the service of our military and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, highlight the achievements of Canadian youth, and pay tribute to those who are improving the lives of children and of people with disabilities.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will address Canadians on November 10 at the official welcome to Canada ceremony. The Princess Royal will also read a message from Her Majesty The Queen at the Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 11.
“Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal joins us on Remembrance Day during this special year, when we mark the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War. As we remember the heroes who served, Her Royal Highness also acknowledges the selfless work of those everyday heroes who contribute to their communities.”
