Minister Kenney announces support for commemorative projects

The Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development, Minister for Multiculturalism, and Minister Responsible for Southern Alberta, today announced Government of Canada support for two projects that pay tribute to Canada’s brave men and women who have served in uniform. Minister Kenney made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
The Carewest Colonel Belcher received $500 for the 2014 Commemorative Tea. Held on November 6, the Tea was hosted for resident Veterans of the Carewest Colonel Belcher long-term care facility. A video featuring young children reciting "In Flanders Field" and sharing messages of gratitude was played.
The 783 Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association will receive $2,500 for a Remembrance Day ceremony. The ceremony, to be held at the Metawa Armouries, will include a parade, colour party and a march-past during the event.
