Victoria, B.C. – Members of the media are invited to attend the military burial of four Canadian and British Second World War airmen:
When: Monday, November 10, 2014, starting at 10 a.m. P.S.T.
Where: Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Dr, Victoria, B.C.
What: The military burial of Second World War airmen, Pilot Officer Charles George Fox, Pilot Officer Anthony William Lawrence, Sergeant Robert Ernest Luckock, and Sergeant William Baird.
The four airmen were conducting a navigation training exercise in Patricia Bay, British Columbia, aboard the Avro Anson L7056 aircraft on October 30, 1942. The aircraft failed to return from the mission and was not discovered during the subsequent search operation.
The wreckage was discovered in October 2013 by a logging company working in the area. The DND and the CAF confirmed the presence of remains in December 2013. The remains of the four airmen were recovered from the crash site in May 2014.
