November 14, 2014 – St. Stephen, New Brunswick – Infrastructure Canada
The residents of St. Stephen and surrounding communities will be able to enjoy a healthier lifestyle thanks to the newly completed Garcelon Civic Center.
Located near the scenic St. Croix River, the new recreation facility will be used for various health, wellness and cultural services, from hosting meetings, seminars, training and sporting events, to cultural and tourism festivals and concerts. The building includes several multi-purpose rooms, a reception area, a full-sized ice surface, a walking and jogging track, a 25-metre training pool, and a therapeutic swimming pool.
The Center will be a place where people can gather and enjoy its various amenities. Destined to be the focal point of St. Stephen's downtown core area, the Garcelon Civic Center will attract visitors and new residents, and will be an area of interest for new and existing businesses.
"Our Government supports community-building infrastructure projects like the Garcelon Civic Center. We understand the need to work with communities, like St. Stephen, and the province on behalf of all residents. The completed Garcelon Civic Center will attract more people and families to St. Stephen's Front Street, which will have a positive boost to the local economy. I have been pleased to work with the Town and provincial MLAs to complete this important project."
